| I remember doing this but can't remember how and can't find any help on it. When I print out a particular game, I want diagrams of the current position to print with it. How do I do this? That is, how do I embed diagrams in the printout? (Mike - maybe you could put this info under "diagram" in the help file.) Thanks in advance for any help. |

Perhaps you are remembering doing this with a ChessBase product.

This is easily done with a ChessBase product, but Bookup's "Print" functions will not print both games and diagrams as an integrated procedure.

Well, Bookup will create diagrams that are font-based for text files and using them requires assembling the "game" elements and "diagram" elements in an external program. I use MS Wordpad, which gives me the option of using diagrams that are image based if I force the RTF option.
The basic trick is to use File|Export as Text...[Alt+E] to get your game into a text file, and then use Edit|Copy Diagram[Alt+D] to get an encoded version of the current diagram to the Windows Clipboard. Then you can Paste the encoded version to the text file where you wish the diagram to appear. Then you must choose the font (such as TASC) that matches the encoded text to get the effect that you want. Without this important step, you get gibberish.
If it is important for you to display diagrams from text files with Bookup commands, you will need to understand the implications of the Export TAB of the dialog that the Edit|Preferences... routine displays.
If you just want to get the job done, use a ChessBase product. _________________ Nothing livens up this forum better than a little bit of humor.

This is what I do (provided that I should have a need to do so):
Game->Show Game Window->Play your game->Command->Save Game
Enter game details( Event,Site,Date etc)->press "PGN File Button"->Enter file name->save
This will save it to Chess Openings Files/Games.
To capture a specific position use a screen capture utility that permits you to select the playing field and stores it as a jpg or bmp image
Use MS Word and import the saved game and then import the captured position image. Then you can print the document.
PS: I do not know a command that would let you capture a game position image directly in Bookup/COW. It will only permit such capture when in normal Bookup/COW window displaing an e-book rather than when displaying a game window.
